No, NOT ME, no it wasn't my cat that swallowed half of my shoestring after gnawing it off of my shoe and had to be rushed to the vet for emergency surgery to remove it from his intestines....no, NOT ME! You would think after swallowing numerous shoestrings before and getting violently ill, that he would be smart enough to learn his lesson, but, NO, it's NOT ME that has the dimmest pick of the litter.

But...it's also not just me that thinks he is just adorable! :)

The BEST kisses in the world!

This is how James Dexter likes to give kisses:

1. Grab your target and go for it!

2. Latch on, hair is his favorite handle although ears and noses also work well, while he slobbers all over you making all kinds of fun sounds and squeals. At this point you can't help but start laughing.

3. Keep going until his victim can't take it anymore! Then as you wipe the slobber off your face he grins at you. Gotta love it!

Sittin Pretty

So he is just now working on sitting up...he would much rather you hold his hands and walk him around. I really don't think he is going to crawl...I think he is going to go straight to walking! Which would not surprise me because he has NEVER done anything on other peoples time lines...he makes his own.

Practicing to sit up on his own

"Hey look Daddy! I am doing it!"

Me loving on my big boy

He is all smiles all the time!

Latest Cardiologist Appointment

So we went for our 2nd cardiologist's appointment and James is doing just fine. His heart is growing well and operating at full capacity. Since he isn't having any trouble from him condition they want to give it a while and watch him. We did find out yet another abnormality he has...it's called a retroaortic innominate vein. Basically the main vein that brings deoxygenated blood to the heart doesn't follow the normal pathway. His goes down further, turns toward his back going deeper into his chest and behind his aorta then under the arch and then connects. This is associated with his previously known condition and the Dr. just says it's "interesting" at this point. Very rare. Could he be more different?!?!?! :)

No major problems right now from everything but if he starts having problems then we will most likely be scheduling surgery....anyways....on to a brighter note. He had all the ladies in the office drooling over him. How could you not fall in love with this precious little boy?!?!?

Easter!

The Easter Bunny came to see James this year and he must have been a good boy!

Playing catch up!

So yes, as it was pointed out by my high school friend and fellow blogger Rachel I haven't been very diligent in updating my blog! So here goes! James Dexter has had a lot going on...after we got over the first scary sickness he got the crud. Pink eye, green boogies and the dreaded ear infections! But he is feeling much better now. We took our first trip to the park and he had fun. His favorite thing to do right now (besides chewing on his fist, yes we are close to cutting that first tooth) is watching COPS with his daddy. Yes, he really does enjoy cops....it's kinda funny. I catch myself singing the theme song as a lullaby....only in Alabama!

As they all say, a picture is worth a thousand words, so here goes!!!

Sneezes, Snots & Smiles

So it has been quite the ride here lately. First Jeff and I got sick and then of course James Dexter did to. With him being a preemie we have to take extra care with his lungs. Of course the doctors can't really give them anything it just has to run it's course. Well he went downhill and last Friday we ended up in Children's ER at 6 in the morning. He was pitiful. Wouldn't eat, wouldn't play, showing signs of dehydration...they said his right lung looked cloudy so it wasn't pneumonia YET. They said he would "take a turn" one way or the other over the weekend. We are happy to say it was a turn for the better! No more snotty nose, just a couple sneezes and the cough is slowly going away. As you can see from the pictures below taken a couple of hours ago he is feeling much better!
